During a grade 2 unit on materials, we opened up an upright piano to see how it works. We discussed how each of the 88 keys is connected to a small hammer that hits a string, ultimately producing that recognizable piano sound. Students were so excited and we had a few of them perform for us while their classmates watched the hammers moving.
